PFT July 10, 2016. Joseph: Received Jacob’s Prophecy. Genesis 49:22-33.
Jacob prophesied “Joseph is a fruitful bough”. Historically, by his fruitfulness Egypt and Israel survived the seven-year famine. Spiritually, by his fruitfulness, the church is enabled to see an example of what it is for God to work in us. Typically, by his fruitfulness, we see the true Branch, the Lord Jesus Christ. Isaiah and Jeremiah thus titled Him (Is 11:1; Je 23:5). He called Himself, “the Vine, the true one” (John 15:1).
